I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful Father's Day. Since my boys went to spend the day with their dad (and my dad passed away in 2004), I spent the day with my mom, younger sister and her family at the beach. We drove down to Seal Beach to have lunch at an Irish Pub that my brother-in-law has been wanting to go to. After lunch, we walked along the pier and enjoyed the beautiful weather and sunshine.
Here's my first post of the summer! (For me, summer means lots of time to stamp and post to my blog.)
It's summer (!!!) and although I still have some work to do at school, I thought I would take a break and make a card for my brother in My Digital Studio and share it for you here.
Everything looks dimensional, but it's not. It's just the shadowing effect that you can apply to any element in MDS to make it look dimensional.
I created the red checked background by using the square punch filled with Real Red. Then I re-sized the square to a 1/2" square. Next, I copied and pasted two rows of these squares, with the grid turned on for placement, lining them up to create a checkerboard pattern. Then I selected those two rows of squares and grouped them together. After that, I copied and pasted them five more times and lined them up to fill the card background. I printed out the card and colored in the image using markers and a watercolor technique.
The rest is pretty straightforward using stamp brushes, punches, text, and fills. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to contact me.
I love reading your comments and appreciate the time you take to write them.
