Fall is in the air here in Southern California!! Hard to believe as we usually have "summer" at least until the end of October. It's so nice outside...a little breezy and cooler with some beautiful cumulus clouds scattered across the blue sky. (We're even suppose to get some rain this coming week!) My favorite time of year! I had to get out and enjoy some of the weather, so I left a stack of papers to be corrected and headed to the Cal Poly University Farm Store. Very COOL store! Their pumpkin festival is next weekend, so I wanted to go before the crowds and get a few pumpkins and Indian corn for decorating. Got some other goodies too! : D
Okay, so on with the punch art! Here are a few items that can be put on cards, boxes, or scrapbook pages. You've seen the pumpkins everywhere for the last several years and the ghost with the pumpkin basket is inspired by Canadian demonstrator, Heather Summers. She has some very cute punch ideas! The scarecrow is my idea. Isn't he cute? (I've thought about making the rest of his body, but then he wouldn't fit on a card and I think that's what he'll end up on. I might make another one with a whole body for a scrapbook page someday.)
Here are the punches I used:
Pumpkins - small, large, and wide oval punches and for the stems I used the modern label punch and ran it through the crimper. The two smaller pumpkin stems are also from the modern label punch - I just used the center bump or scallop as my starting point and cut the stem out free hand from there.
Ghost - wide label punch, modern label punch, large oval punch, and 1" circle punch.
My Scarecrow - small tag punch, modern label punch, 1-1/4 circle punch, large oval, boho blossoms punch, 1/4" circle punch (retired) or you can use the crop-a-dile. I also used a retired flower punch for the leaves, but I don't remember the name of the punch (sorry!). I used one of the face stamps from Pumpkin Patch with Basic Black classic ink and free handed the stitched mouth with a fine tip black drawing pen.
One of these days I will attach these elements to a project. I hope you get some fall inspiration from these! Thanks for stopping by.
