Tomorrow is my mom's 87th birthday and this card is for her! She wears her age well and since she's really into following sports, we're having a Super Bowl birthday party for her tomorrow. Hmmmm...maybe I should have made her a sports themed card.
On to the card details. The stamps are from the NEW set Stylized Flowers from ACWP. They have three new sets and have posted two really cute sets that are coming out this spring! So go check them out! The inks and card stock are Stampin' Up! - Groovy Guava (my current fave - can you tell??), paired with Sage Shadow and Very Vanilla card stocks, classic inks Close to Cocoa, Groovy Guava, and Sage Shadow. The ribbon is SU! Close to Cocoa grosgrain. I used the SU! slot punch and a 1/8" hole punch where the ribbon is attached. The little clear plastic bobbles are colored with my alcohol markers on the back to match the Groovy Guava. Thanks again to Lauren Meader for discovering and sharing this "find" at Michaels. I'm not sure where the original idea for this card layout came from, but it was shared at our last SU! meeting by Nadine Yamane. Thanks Nadine! Here's another picture with the fold detail:
The Close to Cocoa card stock (cs) is cut to 9" x 4-1/4" and scored at 3-1/2" along the 9" side, creating two sections: one that is 3-1/2" wide and one that is 5-1/2" wide.
The Sage Shadow cs is cut to 10-1/4" x 3-1/4" and scored at 5-7/16" (just a hair under 5-1/2 to allow for folding) along the 10-1/4" side, creating two sections: one that is 5-7/16" wide and one that is 4-13/16" wide. It is layered onto the 5-1/2" wide section of Close to Cocoa cs.
The Very Vanilla layer is cut to 3-3/4" x 2-1/2" and layered onto the 4-3/4" x 3-1/4" section of the Sage Shadow cs as shown.
The Groovy Guava cs is cut to 3-1/2 x 4-1/4" and punched with the slot punch. The tab created from the slot punch is then punched with an 1/8" hole punch, centering to creat a hole for the ribbon to be tied through. [I pushed the cs all the way into the slot punch and punched. It ends up the perfect distance to hold the card closed.] I have made a few of these cards and have varied the position of the slot punch along the edge to acheive the best balance of the ribbon placement in the overall card design. The Groovy Guava piece is then layered on top of the 3-1/2" section of the Close to Cocoa cs, which you can't really see in the picture. I believe the rest is self-explanatory, but contact me if you have any questions. Thanks for stopping by!
